Technique Tuesday: Stop Reaching and Start Landing Clean

Reaching is one of the fastest ways to lose balance and get countered.

If you’ve ever felt off-balance or missed punches by just a bit — you’re probably reaching.

Why Reaching Is a Problem

  • You lose balance
  • You expose your chin
  • You can’t defend properly
  • You get countered easily

How to Fix It

1. Step Before You Punch
Feet first, then hands.

2. Stay Under Your Body
Don’t lean forward — move your feet.

3. Use the Jab to Measure
Find your range before committing.

4. Accept When You’re Out of Range
Reset instead of forcing it.

Drill

Shadowbox focusing on:
Step → Punch → Reset

Final Thoughts
