Technique Tuesday: Use Feints to Create Openings

Good boxing isn’t just about throwing punches — it’s about creating reactions.

Feints are a key part of developing real boxing IQ, something we emphasize when teaching the Benefits of Boxing Training beyond just fitness.

Why Feints Work

Feints force your opponent to:

  • React early
  • Open their guard
  • Reveal habits

Types of Feints

1. Shoulder Feint
Small movement, big reaction.

2. Jab Feint
Looks like a jab, sets up something else.

3. Level Change Feint
Fake the body, go upstairs.

How to Use Them

  • Keep them subtle
  • Don’t overuse them
  • Always follow with something

Training Drill

Shadowbox using:
Feint → Real Punch

Make it fluid.

Final Thoughts

Feints help you control reactions and create cleaner opportunities.

To develop this level of awareness faster, our Personal Training Boxing Toronto sessions focus on real-time feedback and application.
